Flooding submerges nine neighborhoods in west and north Jakarta

The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency reports flooding submerging nine neighborhoods and one road in West and North Jakarta on Sunday morning. Water levels reached 10-20 centimeters, forcing 350 residents to evacuate. Heavy rain and river overflows are the main causes.

On Sunday morning, February 1, 2026, flooding struck Jakarta again due to heavy rain and river overflows. According to Mohamad Yohan, Head of the Disaster Data and Information Center at the Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta), water levels in nine neighborhoods (RTs) and one road reached 10-20 centimeters.

In West Jakarta, two RTs in Tegal Alur Subdistrict were submerged to 20 cm from the Kali Semongol overflow. Meanwhile, seven RTs in North Jakarta—six in Marunda Subdistrict and one in Kapuk Muara Subdistrict—faced 10 cm of water due to high rainfall and overflows from Kali Angke and Kali Nagrak.

The flooded road is Jalan Kamal Raya in Tegal Alur Subdistrict, with 15 cm depth. This flooding displaced 350 residents to safer locations: 125 to Masjid Nurul Jannah and 225 to SD Robiatul Adawiyah.

Yohan stated, "Water height 10-20 centimeters (cm)." This incident continues a pattern from previous days, such as Saturday when 30 RTs remained inundated.
