Marty O'Donnell has addressed rumors that Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts nearly starred in Halo 2. The claims stemmed from a single party conversation after the success of the first game.
In a recent interview, O'Donnell explained that a casting agent approached him at a Hollywood party and suggested casting the two stars. The agent claimed to represent both actors and pushed for a deal following anticipation for the sequel.
O'Donnell said Tom Cruise had already shown interest in Bungie by playing Myth. However, he viewed the idea as unsuitable because it would disrupt the established connection fans had with Steve Downes and Jen Taylor.
The discussion did not advance beyond that exchange. Downes had mentioned the possibility on his YouTube channel a year earlier.
Downes and Taylor recently re-recorded lines for the Halo: Campaign Evolved remake shown at the Xbox Showcase.
