Hamburger Fischmarkt returns to Bad Segeberg

From February 20 to 22, Möbel Kraft in Bad Segeberg turns into a stage for the republic's best market criers. Visitors can buy fish rolls, cheese specialties, and chocolate from boisterous vendors. Entry is free, and the event kicks off with a breakfast including free beer.

The Hamburger Fischmarkt takes place from February 20 to 22 at Möbel Kraft in Bad Segeberg. Over the three days, the market criers present themselves from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., offering bargains with cheeky banter. Well-known figures like “Käthe Kabeljau” serve a wide range of fish rolls and the famous Backfisch from Aurich. “Aal-Hinnerk,” an original from the Hamburger Fischmarkt, rounds out the fishy offerings with “Räucherfisch Deluxe,” including smoked eel, mackerel, halibut, salmon, and herring.

New to Bad Segeberg is “Der Wattwurm” with his “legendary Würmchen from the Bördeland,” which are salami and other sausage specialties. “Käse-Mey” from Osnabrück sells national and international cheese specialties in buckets for a deal of 10 pieces for 20 euros. “Nudel-Kiri” provides Italian pasta, while “Milka-Maxx,” the self-proclaimed “chocolate giant from the coast,” hawks chocolate for sweet tooths. Last year, “Milka-Maxx” was absent due to a defect in his Milka van and was replaced by “Wurst-Toni.”

In addition, there is a flea market with leather goods, handbags, and toys. Culinary highlights include Westphalian specialties from the swing grill, bratwurst, steaks, and crêpes. Event agency Jobo opens the festival on Friday, February 20, with an original market crier breakfast starting at 11 a.m., featuring sausage, fish, and free beer for all visitors. Entry is free.
