Joan Burstein, the retail pioneer behind Browns boutique, died on Friday at the age of 100. Known as Mrs. B in the fashion world, she championed emerging British designers and international brands from her London store. Her family announced her peaceful passing, noting her vibrant life celebrated just months earlier on her centenary.
Joan Burstein CBE passed away peacefully on Friday, her children Simon Burstein and Caroline Hammond confirmed in a statement. “We are deeply saddened to share that our wonderful mother... passed away peacefully,” they said. Earlier this year, in February, she marked her 100th birthday at her home in Ibiza, dancing to a swing band surrounded by loved ones. Burstein leaves two children, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
