Kulingana na uchunguzi wa hivi karibuni, asilimia 15 ya Wakenya wanaogopa kupoteza kazi mwaka 2026 kutokana na shinikizo la kiuchumi na maendeleo ya teknolojia kama AI. Mwaka 2026 umeanza na wasiwasi mkubwa kati ya wafanyikazi nchini Kenya, ambapo uchunguzi wa Infotrak wa Desemba 2025 unaonyesha asilimia 15 wanaogopa kupoteza kazi. Uchunguzi mwingine wa viongozi wa biashara unaeleza kuwa kampuni karibu sita kati ya kumi zina mpango wa kufuta nafasi za kazi, ikitokana na shinikizo la kiuchumi na kuanzishwa kwa teknolojia ya AI.

Badala ya kufuta kazi kwa wingi, kampuni zinachanganya majukumu mengi na kutegemea AI kushughulikia kazi za ziada, kama ingizo la data, ratiba na msaada wa wateja. Kazi za kalamu, uwalaumu na utawala wa kimsingi zimepungua sana ikilinganishwa na 2024, kutokana na AI yenye uwezo wa kufanya kazi peke yake.

Pia, kutoambatana kwa ustadi ni tatizo kubwa. Maisha ya nusu ya ustadi wa kiufundi yameshuka hadi miaka 5, hivyo kama hujajenga ustadi tangu 2021, nusu ya maarifa yako yamepitwa na wakati. Uchunguzi wa Septemba 2025 unaonyesha asilimia 46 ya viongozi wa biashara wanaona ukosefu wa ustadi wa AI kama sababu kuu ya kuwalenga wafanyikazi wakati wa kupunguza. Wafanyikazi wenye mishahara mirefu, haswa manaibu wa katikati, wako hatarini zaidi kwani wanabadilishwa na wapya wenye ustadi wa AI wenye gharama nafuu.

Katika soko la Kenya, shinikizo la kodi na udhibiti wa KRA umefanya biashara ndogo kutegemea otomatiki ili kufuata sheria bila kuajiri zaidi. Gharama zinazoongezeka na hatari ya ukame mwaka 2026 zimesababisha kusita kwa kuajiri. Ili kujikinga, wataalamu wanashauri kuzingatia matokeo, kujifunza AI, kukuza ustadi wa kibinadamu kama huruma, na kuongeza mapato kupitia kazi za ziada.
