Konami unveils first trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall

During the February 2026 PlayStation State of Play, Konami revealed the first proper trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall, the third new entry in the series announced in 2022. Developed by Scottish studio Screen Burn, the game is set in the foggy British town of St. Amelia and features protagonist Simon Ordell using a retro handheld device called the CRTV. No exact release date was given beyond 2026.

Silent Hill: Townfall was announced by Konami in 2022 alongside the Silent Hill 2 remake, which has since released, and Silent Hill f, which came out in September 2025. The game is being developed by Screen Burn, a small Glasgow-based studio formerly known as No Code and recognized for titles like Stories Untold and the 2019 game Observation. It is published by Konami in partnership with Annapurna Interactive.

The trailer, shown during the Sony State of Play on February 12, 2026, introduces Simon Ordell, a man in his 30s born in 1959, who returns to the small British seaside town of St. Amelia amid heavy fog. A hospital wristband suggests a 1990s setting. Ordell is driven to "put things right," venturing deeper to understand his connection to the place and its inhabitants, discovering fragments of a past rising to the surface.

Gameplay unfolds in first-person, centered on the CRTV, a Game Boy-like device that serves as a modern take on the series' iconic handheld radio, incorporating both audio and video signals. Players use it to pick up signals around town, reveal story elements, solve "tactile and intricate" puzzles, and locate threats by seeing through the environment.

Enemies dynamically hunt players, leading to first-person combat with melee and ranged weapons. However, developers emphasize stealth as a key strategy, using the CRTV, environmental opportunities, and an intuitive peek system to avoid fights. Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto described Townfall as one of the "most aesthetic and sophisticated" entries in the series. "Players who seek a more refined experience will especially appreciate this game," he said, "as it offers intellectual discoveries through puzzles and analysis, while the town's atmosphere and the portrayal of the Otherworld will entertain players through its aestheticism."

Wishlists are now available on the PlayStation Store, with a full release planned for 2026.
