KUSCCO inaweka mapendekezo ya kuondoa ushuru wa excise kwenye miamala ya SACCO

Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO) imewasilisha mapendekezo kwa Hazina ya Taifa kuondoa ushuru wa excise kwenye miamala ya wanachama wa SACCO. Hatua hii inatarajiwa kupunguza gharama za huduma za kifedha na kuwapa wanachama faida zaidi. Mapendekezo mengine ni pamoja na kurekebisha viwango vya kodi ya mapato na kupanua ufafanuzi wa jamii za ushirika.

Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO) iliwasilisha mapendekezo yake kwa Hazina ya Taifa siku ya Alhamisi, Machi 19. Pendekezo kuu ni kuondoa ushuru wa excise kwenye miamala ya ndani ya SACCO, ambayo inasemekana inawalemea mzigo wasio na lazima wanachama wengi wenye mapato ya chini na ya kati. Kuondoa ushuru huu kunatarajiwa kupunguza gharama za kuweka akiba, kutoa na kuazima fedha ndani ya SACCOs, hivyo kuimarisha ustawi wa kifedha wa wanachama. KUSCCO ilisema, “Wakati wa mawasilisho, tulisisitiza kuwa mapendekezo haya yanatokana na changamoto za kweli zinazowakabili SACCOs na kuwaombea Hazina ya Taifa kuyapitisha ili kupunguza mzigo wa kodi kwenye SACCOs.” Pendekezo lingine ni kurekebisha viwango vya kodi ya mapato ya mtu binafsi ili kuongeza mapato yanayobaki na kukuza uwekaji akiba na uwekezaji katika SACCOs. Pia, walipendekeza kufafanuli “designated primary cooperative societies” ili kujumuisha makundi ya watu binafsi na kampuni, ili kuongeza ushiriki katika sekta ya ushirika na kuwafanya SACCOs washindani zaidi dhidi ya benki. Mawasilisho haya yalisaidiwa kiufundi na kampuni ya ukaguzi PwC. Ikiwa mapendekezo yatapitishwa, wanachama wa SACCO watafaida kutokana na kodi iliyopunguzwa, upatikanaji bora wa huduma za kifedha na sekta thabiti ya ushirika.
