Leksand is managing debts to former players while maintaining the highest budget in HockeyAllsvenskan. The club reported a profit of 7.5 million kronor last week. Chairman Andreas Gärdsbäck confirmed installment agreements up to three years.
Leksand has around 40 million kronor in outstanding sign-on bonuses owed to former players including Matt Caito, Nolan Stevens, Max Veronneau, Peter Cehlarik and Joonas Lyytinen. The club is negotiating payment plans with these players. Gärdsbäck stated that the agreements are complete and limited to a maximum of three years depending on each player's tenure and amounts owed. He noted that the club has included the debts in its accounts for the coming twelve months. The team maintains a player budget of 23.5 million kronor, the highest in the league. Gärdsbäck described the spending as necessary to attract fans, sponsors and competitive results ahead of potential SHL promotion efforts.
