Lufthansa to replace Kley with Teyssen as supervisory board chair

Karl-Ludwig Kley ends his nine-year tenure as Lufthansa supervisory board chair on Tuesday. Shareholders are set to elect former Eon chief Johannes Teyssen to the board at the annual meeting.

Teyssen would be the first external chief controller at the group in decades. Kley had previously served as chief financial officer, while his predecessors had led the company as CEO.

Ingo Speich of Deka Investment praised the choice last September. “Teyssen is a very good choice. He is independent and experienced in crises,” he said. Teyssen had shown at Eon that he can radically restructure companies.

At the same time, major shareholder Klaus-Michael Kühne raised his stake in Lufthansa to more than 20 percent. The Kühne Holding has been invested since 2022 and provides supervisory board member Karl Gernandt.
