A man was critically injured by gunshots in Buxtehude on Monday evening. Police cordoned off large parts of the city center, and the perpetrator remains at large.
Several people reported gunshots in an apartment building on Bahnhofstraße around 7:15 p.m. Officers found an injured man there.
Police deployed a large contingent and cordoned off the area around the crime scene extensively. Heavily armed officers secured the district, and public transport in the center was suspended.
Officers from the Stade police inspectorate as well as personnel from neighboring stations were involved. The background of the incident remained unclear at first, and the suspected perpetrator had not been caught by late evening.
