Police have arrested the suspected perpetrator of a double murder in Bremen. The 22-year-old was found in a cornfield in Schwanewede with life-threatening injuries.
On Friday midday a 40-year-old man and his 35-year-old wife were found dead in the Bremen district of Vegesack. The man lay on the street with fatal stab and cut wounds while the woman was discovered in the basement of an apartment building.
Special forces located the 22-year-old in the evening in a cornfield in Schwanewede northwest of Bremen. Paramedics resuscitated him before officers took him to hospital.
The arrest followed tips from the public and close police cooperation. The man was known to police after he fired an air rifle in April. Investigations by the murder commission and the Bremen public prosecutor’s office continue.
