Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abebe has launched the 2018 E.C. summer cleaning campaign.
The mayor stated that cleaning work should become a daily practice beginning with oneself, the home and the surroundings.
She noted that Addis Ababa continues to grow greener and cleaner over time, yet some areas and neighborhoods still require attention.
Significant focus has been placed on modernizing the waste disposal system, she said, adding that dry waste is a resource that must be separated properly and disposed of according to international standards.
Particular care is needed during the summer months with drainage channels and dry waste handling to prevent disease outbreaks, she stressed.
