Mick Jagger praises Beatles songwriting legacy in interview

Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones highlighted the Beatles' influence during a SiriusXM interview. He discussed their prolific output and a collaboration with Paul McCartney on the band's upcoming album.

In an interview that aired on SiriusXM’s Classic Vinyl channel on Thursday, Jagger called the Beatles the most prolific songwriters of their era. He noted how they wrote hits for themselves and others, including the Stones’ 1963 single “I Wanna Be Your Man,” which reached number 12 in the UK.

Jagger also mentioned McCartney’s contributions to two tracks, “Bite Your Head Off” and “Covered in You,” for the Rolling Stones’ new album Foreign Tongues. The album, which features additional input from Robert Smith, Steve Winwood and Bruno Mars, is set for release tomorrow.

Jagger dismissed any notion of rivalry between the bands, stating that sharing songs benefited both groups financially. He expressed enthusiasm for live performances while acknowledging Keith Richards’ preference for residencies.

Separately, Jagger recently performed the new Stones song “Ringing Hollow” in London with Ronnie Wood and Matt Clifford.
