Milei defends legal personality for AI firms in reply to Harari

President Javier Milei responded to historian Yuval Noah Harari by defending his proposal to recognize companies operated by artificial intelligence.

Milei issued a statement in English this Thursday through the Office of the President. In the text he rejected Harari’s warnings about the risks of granting legal personality to autonomous AI agents.

The president argued that this legal figure already exists in commercial law and allows organizations to respond for damages. “Harari’s fears are, in my opinion, an argument in favor of legal personality, not against it,” he stated.

Milei clarified that an autonomous firm under this framework would be subject to the rule of law exactly like any conventional corporation. The initiative is promoted by Minister Federico Sturzenegger.
