In a recent group interview with Japanese media, Shigeru Miyamoto addressed the familial link between Princess Peach and Rosalina established in the newly released Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The record-breaking film confirms the sisters' relationship, which fans had speculated about since Super Mario Galaxy launched nearly two decades ago. Miyamoto stated that he had not previously fixed the characters' backstories but found expanding them enjoyable through the movie production. He added, 'Therefore, I would like to adhere as much as possible to the settings created in the movie in future games.' (translated by Nintendo Everything). Miyamoto explained his general reluctance to lock in detailed narratives, noting, 'Because we don't know what kind of game we'll make next with our characters, having too many character settings would become a constraint.
