NASA has released the official playlist of wake-up songs selected by the Artemis II crew, featuring artists such as Chappell Roan, Queen, David Bowie and Glass Animals. The 10-day lunar mission, which began on April 1 with four astronauts, continues a tradition dating back over 50 years. More songs are expected before the mission ends.

On Saturday, April 4, Chappell Roan's 2023 hit 'Pink Pony Club' served as one of the wake-up songs, though it cut out early during broadcast, prompting Commander Reid Wiseman to remark, “We were all eagerly awaiting the chorus.” A Capsule Communicator promised to try again later. NASA shared the full 'Artemis II Wake-Up Songs' playlist on Instagram, noting, “You asked for it. Here it is. The official Artemis II wake‑up song playlist. Each track was selected by the Moon crew, continuing a tradition that started more than 50 years ago. Stay tuned to find out which songs they’ll choose next.” The playlist opens with 'Sleepyhead' by Young & Sick, followed by 'Green Light' from John Legend and Andre 3000, 'In A Daydream' by Freddy Jones Band, 'Pink Pony Club' by Chappell Roan, 'Working Class Heroes' by CeeLo Green, 'Good Morning' by Mandisa, 'Tokyo Drifting' by Glass Animals and Denzel Curry, and 'Under Pressure' by Queen and David Bowie. Artists reacted enthusiastically. Young & Sick commented, “Thank you sooooo much for having me aboard!! My life will never be the same.” Glass Animals said, “This is the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life ever.” Denzel Curry posted on X, “To infinity and beyond muthafucka,” and claimed to be “the First Rapper Played in Space.” With one day remaining in the mission as of April 9, additional tracks are anticipated.
