Octane launches O-Tolls for digital truck payments in Egypt

Octane, a digital payments platform, has launched O-Tolls in partnership with the National Company for Roads Building and Development, becoming Egypt's first to offer digital payments for toll gates and truck weighing for vehicles. The service uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to streamline operations across more than 500 toll gates and weighing stations. It aims to boost operational efficiency and cut costs for logistics firms.

Octane has introduced O-Tolls, a pioneering step in digitizing toll gate and truck-weighing payments for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles across Egypt. The launch, in collaboration with the National Company for Roads Building and Development, allows logistics companies and transport fleets to pass seamlessly through over 500 toll gates and weighing stations, eliminating cash handling and paper-based processes.

The service delivers secure, instant digital payments alongside real-time visibility into toll transactions, enhancing financial transparency, budgeting accuracy, and fleet management while curbing fraud and revenue leaks. It also streamlines the driver experience by cutting stoppage times and operational delays. Toll fees represent a significant expense, comprising 10% to 15% of total operating costs for logistics and distribution firms.

Amr Gamal, co-founder and CEO of Octane, stated: "Our mission is to digitise every aspect of vehicle-related spending, enabling organisations to transition from fragmented, cash-only models to a unified digital system that delivers accurate spend visibility and enhances financial planning."

Gamal noted that robust early adoption—with more than 100 companies joining in the first month—highlights the transport and logistics sector's rising demand for tech solutions that optimize efficiency and ensure comprehensive cost control.

Supported by investors such as Elsewedy Group, Algebra Ventures, and El Shorouk, Octane achieved substantial growth in 2025, processing over EGP 13 billion in digital transactions. The company now serves more than 3,000 clients, manages consumption for over 270,000 vehicles, and tracks more than 500 million litres of fuel via its platform. Octane's ecosystem encompasses digital fuel payments, O-Store as a virtual marketplace for fleet supplies, O-Care connecting vehicles to over 300 service centers, and Mint, an AI-driven maintenance app. With O-Tolls, it now addresses all key fleet operation costs, including tolls.
