Pokemon Legends: Z-A releases Mega Garchomp Z mystery gift

The Pokemon Company announced a new mystery gift for Pokemon Legends: Z-A during Pokemon Day 2026, allowing players to obtain the previously unreleased Mega Garchomp Z. This addition highlights the game's Mega Dimension DLC without introducing new expansions. Players can claim the gift starting February 27, 2026, through an internet connection.

During the Pokemon Day 2026 Pokemon Presents event, The Pokemon Company provided updates on various projects, including more details on Pokemon Legends: Z-A alongside a Generation 10 reveal. Rather than unveiling new downloadable content, the presentation focused on the existing Mega Dimension DLC, which launched late last year and introduced several new Mega Evolutions. However, some of these evolutions lacked available Mega Stones at the initial release.

The key announcement centered on a brand-new mystery gift that unlocks Mega Garchomp Z, one of the game's lingering unreleased forms. This Mega Evolution features larger scythe wings and is classified as a full Dragon-type, differing from the standard Mega Garchomp. To obtain it, players must access the Mystery Gift feature in Pokemon Legends: Z-A and connect to the internet—no code is needed. Upon claiming the gift, a new side mission activates, guiding trainers to a Hyperspace Dimension encounter with Mega Garchomp Z. Defeating it in battle grants the Garchompite Z stone, enabling players to Mega Evolve their own Garchomp into this form.

The trailer for the event also recapped previously available mystery gifts, such as the “Shine Bright Like a Gemstone” Diancie side mission and the Mewtwo X and Y side missions, which remain redeemable. This update marks the primary news for Pokemon Legends: Z-A amid the upcoming release of Pokemon Pokopia, suggesting a potential shift in development focus away from further major content for the title.
