France's Quentin Halys captured his maiden ATP Tour title at the Generali Open in Kitzbuhel on July 26 by defeating defending champion Alexander Bublik 6-4, 7-6 in the final.
Halys, who turned professional in 2012, did not drop a set throughout the tournament. He defeated Laslo Djere, Valentin Vacherot, Mariano Navone and Yannick Hanfmann before overcoming Bublik in straight sets.
The 29-year-old said after the match, “I’m not thinking too much about my age now because I’m feeling good and I think I have a few more years to play.” He added that the victory should boost his confidence despite coming later than expected.
Halys became the first Frenchman to win the event in the Open Era. The result is expected to lift him 32 places to No. 51 in the ATP rankings, five spots from his career high.
He had previously lost his only other tour-level final to Matteo Berrettini in Gstaad in 2024 and had beaten Bublik in the Swiss Open nine days earlier.
