Six carmakers to recall 146505 vehicles in South Korea

Six automakers including Hyundai Motor and BYD Korea will voluntarily recall a combined 146505 vehicles in South Korea to fix defective components, the Transport Ministry said Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Hyundai Motor will recall 54792 units across two models including the Tucson. BYD will recall 18091 units across six models including the Sealion 7. Hyundai faces software errors in the instrument cluster control system, while BYD deals with seat belt reminder warnings obscured by other notifications.

Mercedes-Benz Korea will recall 2113 units of the C 300 4MATIC. Volvo Korea will recall 55405 units across seven models including the XC60. Jaguar Land Rover Korea will recall 14373 units across 21 models including the Defender 110 D240. The issues involve steering wheel electronics durability, a 48-volt starter-generator component, and a steering wheel airbag connector.

Stellantis Korea will recall 1731 units of the 300C due to a defective high-pressure fuel pump component that could cause the engine to stall while driving. The recalls cover 38 models in total.
