Talk Talk musicians reunite for 'The Colour Of Spring' 40th anniversary gig

Musicians from Talk Talk will reunite for a one-off show in London to mark the 40th anniversary of their 1986 album 'The Colour Of Spring'. The performance is scheduled for September 5 at the O2 Forum Kentish Town, where they will play the album in full. Tickets are on sale now.

Simon Brenner, Talk Talk's founding keyboardist, will join Phil Ramocon and Ian Curnow for the 'Spirit Of Talk Talk' event. They will be accompanied by Sophie Barker of Zero 7, Gale Paridjanian of Turin Brakes, Tim Eisenburg of Sweet Billy Pilgrim, Chris Hampson and Jacob Brown. Guest appearances are set from Ed Harcourt and Fyfe Dangerfield of Guillemots, both performing support sets, along with Mark Gardener of Ride. The band's third studio album, released in February 1986, marked a shift from synthpop to an experimental style influenced by jazz and art pop. This change paved the way for later works like 'Spirit Of Eden' and 'Laughing Stock'. Talk Talk was led by Mark Hollis, who died in 2019 at age 64. In February, the band issued a half-speed reissue of 'Spirit Of Eden', supervised by Hollis's son Charlie, drummer Lee Harris and producer Matt Colton. A 2021 documentary, 'Talk Talk: In A Silent Way', covered the making of that album. Hollis once described his music as a reaction to contemporary sounds, stating in an archived interview: 'It’s certainly a reaction to the music that’s around at the moment ’cos most of that is shit.'
