The Paris Marathon 2026, gathering around 60,000 runners this Sunday, April 12 starting at 8 a.m., will cause major restrictions across several districts of the capital. Authorities expect road closures and parking bans, some starting as early as Friday. Priority emergency vehicles are exempt.
Runners will start in successive waves from the Champs-Élysées to cover 42.195 kilometers through Paris, passing through the bois de Vincennes, the Seine quays, and the bois de Boulogne.
Traffic will be banned on numerous roads, including in central Paris, over the weekend. Parking is prohibited in several streets of the capital, with measures taking effect as early as Friday in some areas, according to the préfecture de police de Paris.
Vehicles ignoring these rules risk being impounded. Authorities note that only «véhicules d'intérêt général prioritaires»—priority general interest vehicles—are allowed to circulate freely.
This annual event draws a record 60,000 participants this year, requiring these arrangements to ensure race safety.
