Tulfo files defamation raps vs Defensor, others

Sen. Erwin Tulfo filed criminal complaints for grave oral defamation against detained former lawmaker Mike Defensor and others over flood control scam allegations.

Sen. Erwin Tulfo filed the complaints yesterday before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office. The cases cite the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and name lawyer Levito Baligod, Jeron Valderama, Bernard Gumban, Ranulfo Ludovica, Virgilio Garcia and additional respondents.

The filings stem from statements made at a June 16 gathering in Mandaluyong originally presented as a Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee hearing. Tulfo denied any involvement in flood control projects and stated he received no funds from Zaldy Co.

Tulfo had filed a similar complaint last month in Pasay City. Defensor and three others were arrested for plunder on Monday. Defensor contributed P75 million to Sen. Rodante Marcoleta’s 2025 campaign.
