Two years have passed since the mysterious disappearance of real estate agent Kelly Johanna Plazas Maná in Rivera, Huila, and her family still seeks answers. Three individuals, including her ex-husband Fidel Borrero Solano, face accusations for their alleged involvement in the case. Despite evidence presented in court, the woman's whereabouts remain unknown.
On March 1, 2024, Kelly Johanna Plazas Maná, a real estate agent from Rivera, disappeared after arriving at La Cabañita restaurant around 4:30 p.m. to show a plot of land to a potential client. Grill worker Jorge Eliécer Guzmán was the last person to see her; he described how she entered a gray Renault Twingo with tinted windows, which then sped off down an unpaved road.
Three men are accused of her forced disappearance: Fidel Borrero Solano, her ex-husband; Alexis Sotelo Salas; and Rafael Antonio Puentes Ortega. In the ongoing oral trial presided over by the Second Specialized Penal Judge of Neiva, the Sixth Specialized Prosecutor has presented phone intercepts and witness testimonies. In one call, Borrero Solano speaks with his son about visiting Alexis to buy a car, denying any plot to kill her. Another intercept involves Floresmiro Puentes, father of Rafael Antonio, referencing a possible car dumped in a hole or lake.
Valentina Ramírez Plazas, Kelly's daughter, stated from the United States: “These two years have been the most difficult of our lives. They have been days of anguish, uncertainty, and much pain.” She believes Borrero's pathological jealousy, worsened by drugs and alcohol, drove the act, following a divorce due to physical and psychological abuse. The daughters describe Borrero as possessive and violent, who insulted them with degrading terms.
Court testimonies include Ismael Arturo Sandino Puentes recounting how Borrero sought help to 'disappear' Kelly, staging it as a kidnapping. Valentina added: “The only thing I ask is to know the truth, whatever it may be, and to be able to give her the farewell she deserves because I know she is no longer alive.”
Recently, on February 26, 2026, Borrero was sentenced to six years in prison for aggravated domestic violence, halting his provisional release. Despite the evidence, there is no certainty about Kelly's whereabouts, leaving the family in uncertainty.
