Universal Pictures announced a release date for the long-developed Murder, She Wrote movie reboot, starring Jamie Lee Curtis as Jessica Fletcher. The film is slated for theaters on December 22, 2027, a Wednesday before Christmas. Curtis steps into the role originated by Angela Lansbury, who portrayed the mystery writer and amateur detective in the coastal town of Cabot Cove, Maine. Lansbury died in 2022. The project comes from a screenplay by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, per Variety. Jason Moore, director of Pitch Perfect, will helm the production. Producers include Amy Pascal, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, known for Project Hail Mary. The original Murder, She Wrote series aired on CBS for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996, where Fletcher solved numerous murders. In related scheduling updates, ABC's R.J.
