Venezuela's government reported 1719 dead and 5034 injured from the June 24 quakes on Monday. International bodies and countries including Argentina, Israel and China are sending aid as rescues continue.
Authorities confirmed the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 quakes left at least 855 buildings damaged, 189 of them completely collapsed. More than 600 aftershocks have been recorded, including a 4.2 magnitude one on Monday morning.
Parliament president Jorge Rodríguez presented the official toll and noted the UN estimates up to 50,000 people missing. The port of La Guaira reopened to receive humanitarian aid delivered by the US Navy ship USS Fort Lauderdale.
Delcy Rodríguez announced the Housing Ministry will build housing solutions for those affected before year end. Several countries, including Argentina with rescue teams and dogs, and China with 14.7 million dollars in supplies, are taking part in support efforts.
International and local rescuers continue searches in La Guaira and Caracas, where an 11-year-old girl guided teams to her family before dying alongside her mother.
