Volkswagen: Blume's restructuring plan fails first vote

Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume has initially failed with his future plan in the supervisory board. The board now intends to implement the package in stages. The next steps are scheduled for September.

The carmaker's supervisory board rejected CEO Oliver Blume's comprehensive restructuring plan in an initial vote. Two issues in particular caused dissent.

Blume now wants to implement the plan step by step. This includes investments, personnel issues and later the reorganization of the group structure.

Originally, the group's management was to be revised by March 2025. A months-long power struggle over plants and jobs now threatens, even against resistance from employees and the state of Lower Saxony.
