Spika wa Bunge la Kitaifa Moses Wetang’ula amewahimiza wabunge kushika sheria ngumu za usalama wa barabara baada ya ajali ya Malaha katika Webuye kusababisha vifo vya watu 15 na majeruhi zaidi ya 21. Alisema NTSA inapaswa kuondoa madereva hatari haraka, na mahakama kutoa adhabu kali. “NTSA lazima ichukue hatua haraka ili kuhakikisha madereva hatari wanaondolewa barabarani. Mahakama zetu zinapaswa kuchukua uzito wa ukosefu wa nidhamu unaoongezeka; wale wanaoweka maisha hatarini wanastahili nguvu kamili ya sheria,” aliongeza.

Wetang’ula alisaidia kuhamishiwa kwa wagonjwa wawili walio na majeruhi makubwa kutoka Hospitali ya Rufaa ya Kaunti ya Webuye hadi Hospitali ya Mwalimu na Rufaa ya Moi (MTRH) kwa matibabu maalumu. Daktari Mkuu David Wanikina alithibitisha kuwa wagonjwa hao wawili ni wanaume na wanahitaji huduma ya dharura.

Rais William Ruto ameahidi msaada wa serikali kwa familia na wagonjwa, na serikali ya kaunti italipa bili za matibabu. Kamati ya mazishi imeundwa chini ya Mbunge wa Webuye East Marthin Wanyonyi Pepela, Mwakilishi wa Wanawake wa Bungoma Catherine Wambilianga, Naibu Gavana Janepher Chemtai Mbatiany na wengine. Sherehe ya kuchangia fedha itafanyika Jumapili, Machi 15, na Misa ya pamoja ya kumbukumbu Jumatatu, Machi 16, katika Mji wa Webuye.
