Yahoo Sports analyst Frank Schwab forecasts a challenging 2026 season for the Pittsburgh Steelers, ranking them 20th in the NFL. He anticipates a third-place finish in the AFC North and possibly the team's first losing record in years.
Schwab cited multiple factors for his outlook. These include the recent coaching change from Mike Tomlin to Mike McCarthy and questions about quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who turns 43 this year.
The Steelers made several roster moves in the offseason. They traded for wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., drafted Germie Bernard, and added cornerback Jamel Dean along with safety Jaquan Brisker.
Schwab noted that the defense could improve but called a major rebound unlikely. He described the hiring of McCarthy as a lateral move at best.
The team won 10 games and the AFC North title in 2025. Schwab believes the Steelers will finish ahead of the Cleveland Browns but doubts they will contend for the division crown.
