Addis Ababa to apply new residential rent rates from June 30

The Addis Ababa city administration's housing bureau held a panel discussion on the 2019 rent price study. The new rates will take effect from June 30, 2018 E.C.

Bureau head Kidist W/Giorgis stated that the rent control proclamation has been in force since 2016 E.C. The measure enables tenants to remain in one location for a minimum of two years.

The price study accounted for tenants' payment ability and landlords' income without causing harm. It covered all sub-cities. Contract renewals will use technology-supported processes at Mesob one-stop centers.
