CBE governor and planning minister review monetary and economic policy coordination

The meeting also reviewed frameworks for enhancing coordination between monetary and fiscal-economic policies to ensure policy coherence and effectiveness.

In a recent meeting, Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), discussed with Ahmed Rostom, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, ways to strengthen coordination between monetary and economic policies. The meeting aimed to support macroeconomic stability and achieve national development objectives, focusing on recent developments in key economic performance indicators as part of Egypt's ongoing economic reform programme.

The discussions reviewed frameworks designed to enhance coordination between monetary and fiscal-economic policies, with the goal of ensuring policy coherence and effectiveness. The meeting also addressed the government's continued efforts to implement the sustainable development strategy, including Egypt Vision 2030, to accelerate growth rates and create sustainable employment opportunities.

Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained coordination between the CBE and the Ministry of Planning to maintain a careful balance between monetary stability and economic expansion. They stressed that effective policy alignment is essential for supporting development projects, stimulating investment, creating durable jobs, and ultimately achieving balanced and sustainable economic growth.

The meeting was attended by Rami Aboul Naga and Tarek El-Khouly, deputy governors of the CBE. Representing the Ministry of Planning were Ahmed Ashour, Head of the National Accounts Unit; Heba Youssef, Director of the Country Programme Unit; and Mohamed El-Gali, Media Adviser.
