Chiki Fawzi, who was suddenly dismissed from his role as a Petugas Penyelenggara Ibadah Haji (PPIH) for 2026, has now been asked to resume training at the Hajj Dormitory. He admits he is still processing the rapid developments. Nonetheless, Chiki says he is willing to return for the sake of devotion to Allah.
Chiki Fawzi has come under the spotlight after experiencing an unexpected twist in his assignment as a Hajj officer for 2026. Initially, he passed the selection and underwent intensive training at the Hajj Dormitory, with a schedule from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. However, he was suddenly dismissed and asked to go home without clear explanation.
"So, yesterday I was selected as a Hajj officer for PPIH 2026, attending training in the barracks at the Hajj dormitory every day from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. Yesterday, I was suddenly dismissed, asked to go home as if I couldn't continue. So I went home," said Chiki Fawzi when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
Chiki made a confession video to deter journalists from visiting the dormitory, as he was overwhelmed responding to them one by one. "Why I made that video, because at that time there were more than 5 TV journalists wanting to approach me at the Hajj dormitory. I already said to approach at 10 p.m., because our classes go until after 9, then usually line up. I couldn't respond one by one, as there were more and more. That's why I made the video so journalists wouldn't look for me at the Hajj dormitory," he explained.
Not long after being sent home, Chiki received news to return to duty. "But it's dynamic, just now I was also asked to come back," he said. He emphasized that he does not feel at fault for his words or attitude. "I'm still processing it, I didn't say anything wrong. But if there's a chance to be asked back, because this is for Allah, yes, tomorrow I will return. But it's so sudden," added Chiki.
This incident highlights the uncertainty in the Hajj assignment process, though Chiki remains committed to his noble purpose.
