"The first fire tender that reached the spot had only half-filled water tank, while the second vehicle arrived after a delay," sources said. Other issues included "no rescue nets available and people were asked to arrange mattresses from nearby houses."
The chief minister directed the concerned district magistrate to submit a comprehensive report detailing the response of all agencies, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, urban development department, and fire services. The report will include inputs from affected families and local residents. It will also probe the building's construction, the contractor involved, and any violations of norms or safety regulations.
Gupta is slated to hold a high-level meeting on Wednesday with fire and other departments on the alleged shortfalls. She met the victims' families on Tuesday, saying her government is committed to providing every possible assistance.
