A forest fire in the Palatinate region was presumably caused by an exploded deodorant can. Residents reported smoke in the forest near Bruchweiler-Bärenbach on Friday evening.

Police said residents in Bruchweiler-Bärenbach noticed smoke in the adjacent forest on Friday evening after a loud bang. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze covering about 50 square meters on a steep slope.

At the scene, firefighters found an exploded deodorant can. Authorities assume the forest fire was at least negligently caused by improper handling of the can.
