Elly De La Cruz placed on 10-day injured list with hamstring strain

Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right hamstring strain. The injury ends his streak of 276 consecutive games played.

An MRI confirmed the strain, which is expected to sideline the two-time All-Star for two to four weeks. Manager Terry Francona said the injury is between a Grade 1 and 2 strain and noted that De La Cruz received treatment similar to a PRP injection for soft tissue issues.

Miami Marlins All-Star outfielder Kyle Stowers will start the 2026 season on the injured list due to a Grade 1 right hamstring strain, the team announced Sunday in Jupiter, Florida. Outfielder Esteury Ruiz will also miss the start with a high-grade oblique strain. Both injuries occurred during recent spring training games.
