Jay-Z opens Yankee Stadium residency with Reasonable Doubt show

Jay-Z performed the first night of his three-show run at Yankee Stadium on July 10, marking the 30th anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt.

The Brooklyn rapper delivered a full performance of the 1996 album before a crowd of day-one fans. Surprise guests included Beyoncé, who sang the hook on “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” and daughter Blue Ivy Carter, who played piano on “Feelin’ It.”

Nas joined for a medley that included “Dead Presidents II” and “The World Is Yours,” while Alicia Keys appeared for the encore performance of “Empire State of Mind.” Additional guests were Jaz-O, Memphis Bleek, and others.

Jay-Z also paid tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. with “Brooklyn’s Finest” and “I Love the Dough,” and brought out his mentor Jaz-O for “Bring It On.” The show featured several unreleased or rare tracks and closed around 11 p.m.
