PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta has affirmed its commitment to protecting passengers from sexual harassment in its operations.
"Perpetrators will face strict sanctions," said Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo in Jakarta on Tuesday (April 22, 2026). These include reporting to police, displaying photos or identities of offenders at stations for public warning, and blacklisting them from train services temporarily or permanently.
The announcement came on Kartini Day, highlighting the importance of women's protection. KAI has introduced prevention measures such as separate toilets on long-distance trains, women-only cars on KRL services, analytic CCTV, priority seats for women, education at stations and schools, and the Contact Center 121 hotline.
On the same day, KAI Jakarta held a socialization event at Pasar Senen Station with psychologists and the Central Jakarta Women's and Children's Protection Unit. "Through this event, we aim to educate the public that sexual harassment is intolerable. KAI urges all passengers to report any incidents without hesitation," Franoto stated.
