Misunderstanding at eddie meduza concert leads to assaults

A 33-year-old man in Malmö misunderstood song lyrics during an Eddie Meduza tribute concert and assaulted four people in the bathroom queue. He was arrested by police and later sentenced to prison. The incident occurred after the final concert in November last year.

Last autumn, ten tribute concerts to the cult artist Eddie Meduza, Errol Nordström who died in 2002, were held at Nöjesteatern in Malmö. The final concert on November 23 ended in chaos in the bathroom, according to Sydsvenskan.

After the show, a group of friends in the bathroom queue sang the song 'Josefine' with lines 'vill du suga min task'. When a 33-year-old Malmö resident exited the toilet, he believed the words 'du kan suga min kuk' were directed at him. He confronted one in the group, and a brawl broke out.

The man bit one person in the finger or ear, pulled another's hair, headbutted and poked fingers into the eyes of a third. A security guard who intervened received a punch to the face. Only in the police car did the 33-year-old realize the misunderstanding.

In district court, he explained feeling 'kränkt och påhoppad' and acting in self-defense. 'Han tittade på mig när han sa "du kan suga min kuk". Då trycker jag upp honom mot väggen och då kommer hans kompisar och blandar sig i', he said according to Sydsvenskan. A witness stated: 'Han ville ha ett svar. Han gick inte iväg. Han brusade i stället upp.'

The court determined he initiated the fight and sentenced him for three counts of assault and violence against an official or violent resistance to six months in prison. He must also pay 60,000 kronor in damages.
