Muhaimin urges professionalism on prospective PMI to Japan

Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar urged 200 prospective Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) heading to Japan to work professionally and uphold Indonesia's reputation. The message was delivered at their departure event at Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang on Friday (April 3). The event is part of the SMK Go Global program.

Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar delivered key messages at the departure of 200 prospective Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) to Japan under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) manufacturing sector scheme at Terminal 3 Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Friday (April 3). This marks the initial piloting phase funded by BUMN CSR as part of the SMK Go Global program.

"The key is your professionalism, your integrity, and your cultural commitment to upholding Indonesia's good name. All PMI must work with heads held high, boldly, confidently, professionally; your skills are no less than those from other countries," Muhaimin stated. He also stressed the need for continuous learning amid rapidly changing work environments.

Muhaimin called on state-owned enterprises (BUMN) to support more global workforce preparation via SMK Go Global, which has President Prabowo Subianto's attention. "Our SMKs must adapt whether they like it or not," he asserted, while pushing for APBN funding for training. Of the 200 prospective PMI, 50 are supported by PT Angkasa Pura CSR, 30 by PT Kereta Api Indonesia CSR, and 120 via P3MI.

The event was attended by PT Angkasa Pura Technical Director Ristiyanto Eko Wibowo and Deputy Minister of P2MI Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla.
