MUI deputy chair and lawmaker defend Prabowo's APBN use for sacrificial cows

MUI deputy chair KH Marsudi Syuhud and DPR Commission III chair Habiburokhman stated that the use of state funds for the president's sacrificial cow assistance is valid under both sharia and law.

KH Marsudi Syuhud explained that the program is presidential assistance for the public, not President Prabowo Subianto's personal sacrifice. He cited a fiqh rule encouraging heads of state to provide sacrifices from the treasury.

Habiburokhman added that the Rp 100 billion budget for 1,098 premium cows comes from the APBN under Article 3 paragraph (1) of the State Finance Law and the 2026 State Budget Law. The animals were distributed to 552 regions, Islamic boarding schools, and religious figures.

Both emphasized that the controversy arose from a communication error that shortened the term "president's sacrificial cow assistance" to "president's sacrificial cows".
