Rangers secure bullpen game win over Blue Jays in Toronto

The Texas Rangers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 on Saturday at Rogers Centre in a bullpen game. Cal Quantrill threw four scoreless innings in his spot start while Sean Keys made his major league debut for the Blue Jays.

Quantrill, a Port Hope, Ontario native, delivered four quality innings to help the Rangers take the first three games of the series. Rangers manager Skip Schumaker praised the effort, noting that Quantrill exceeded expectations by going beyond the planned three innings.

The Rangers bullpen held on after Quantrill departed, with rookie Peyton Gray tossing 2 1/3 scoreless innings and Tyler Alexander earning his third save. First baseman Jake Burger went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and credited the pitching staff for the victory during a stretch of 15 games in 15 days.

Keys, the Blue Jays' No. 14 prospect, batted sixth and recorded his first major league hit, a single in the sixth inning. The 23-year-old had hit 21 home runs across Double-A and Triple-A this season before his call-up.
