Teachers federation rejects repeat of four pillars quiz in west kalimantan

The People's Consultative Assembly decided to repeat the four pillars quiz competition at the West Kalimantan level following a jury scoring controversy. The Indonesian Teachers Union Federation and SMAN 1 Pontianak rejected the decision.

The People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia decided to hold a repeat of the Four Pillars Quiz Competition at the West Kalimantan provincial level. The decision followed a jury scoring controversy involving answers from participants of SMAN 1 Pontianak in the final held in Pontianak on 9 May 2026.

Chair of the Expert Council of the Indonesian Teachers Union Federation Retno Listyarti assessed that repeating the competition could spark new pros and cons. She stated the move ignores children's rights and participants' psychological conditions and would cancel the victory of SMAN 1 Sambas.

SMAN 1 Pontianak through an official statement signed by Principal Indang Maryati on 14 May 2026 refused to take part in the repeat. The school affirmed respect for the final results and full support for SMAN 1 Sambas as West Kalimantan's representative at the national level.
