Tomas Rydén close to Vimmerby HC return in Hockeyallsvenskan

Vimmerby HC is reportedly nearing a deal to bring back goalkeeper Tomas Rydén. The 32-year-old, who previously starred for the club, would pair with loaned prospect Isak Sörqvist from Luleå. Nothing is finalized yet, but Rydén has expressed enthusiasm for the move.

Vimmerby Tidning reports that Tomas Rydén is close to rejoining Vimmerby HC in Sweden's Hockeyallsvenskan. The club has already secured Isak Sörqvist on loan from Luleå, setting up a potential tandem of youth and experience in net. Rydén most recently played for Rødovre in Denmark, with prior stints in Hockeyallsvenskan for Tingsryd and Oskarshamn, as well as in Czechia. Rydén thrived during his earlier time with Vimmerby from 2018 to 2021, recording more than 70 wins including playoffs, 17 shutouts, and a save percentage that never dipped below 92 percent. He told Vimmerby Tidning of his affection for the club: “It would be awesome to come back to Vimmerby. It’s a club close to my heart. I had three wonderful years there and made many good friends. And of course, Hockeyallsvenskan with Vimmerby is appealing.” While no agreement is confirmed, the development bolsters Vimmerby’s goaltending options ahead of the season.
