AIK Hockey announced on Wednesday that negotiations with forward Robin Kovacs have been terminated. The club had engaged in constructive talks and offered one of its most comprehensive contracts in history, but no agreement was reached. AIK plans to continue building its roster with external funding.
AIK Hockey issued a statement clarifying recent speculation about Robin Kovacs. 'We have under a longer period conducted a constructive dialogue with Robin Kovacs and his representatives, with a clear ambition to reach an agreement,' the club said. 'From the club's side, we have presented one of the most comprehensive and competitive contract proposals in our history, which reflects how highly we value the player in question.' The talks, intended to be financed by external capital, could not be finalized, AIK confirmed. Earlier that day, the club announced signings of defensemen Samuel Jonsson and Olli Vainio to bolster its lineup ahead of next season. AIK Hockey added that it is actively working on other processes to build a strong team. Meanwhile, Kovacs' current club, Linköping HC, faces a deadline at midnight on April 30 to resolve his future. If no deal is reached elsewhere, his existing contract with LHC continues, sportchef Broc Little told Corren. Little declined to comment on AIK rumors, confirming only the deadline.
