Bahlil says non-subsidized fuel prices may fall if global oil weakens

Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said non-subsidized fuel prices could drop if world crude oil prices keep weakening. The government will soon hold talks with PT Pertamina and other providers to discuss adjustments.

Bahlil made the remarks at the Presidential Palace complex in central Jakarta on Monday, 20 July 2026. He said the government is still calculating the impact of fluctuating Indonesian and global oil prices before deciding on any change.

Bahlil stressed the need to balance consumer interests with industry sustainability. He noted that non-subsidized fuel accounts for 20 percent of total consumption and involves more affluent users.

The minister also reported to President Prabowo Subianto on crude oil and fuel procurement cooperation with several countries. National energy supply is secure until year-end and subsidized fuel will not rise.
