Beef prices in Jakarta hit Rp 160,000 per kg

Beef prices at Pasar Tomang Barat in West Jakarta reached Rp 160,000 per kilogram three days before Eid al-Fitr, up from Rp 140,000 previously. Trader Adi said the increase started a week earlier, though buyer numbers have dropped compared to last year.

Jakarta – Beef prices have continued rising ahead of Eid al-Fitr. On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Pasar Tomang Barat in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, beef reached Rp 160,000 per kilogram three days before the holiday. This marks an increase from previous levels of Rp 140,000 to Rp 150,000 per kilogram, according to trader Adi (37). The rise began a week earlier, with nearly all cuts, including thigh and shank, now priced uniformly at Rp 160,000 per kilogram. > “For now, beef prices have hit Rp 160,000 per kilogram. That's been the case since H-7 Lebaran,” Adi said. Adi noted fewer buyers compared to last Eid, likely due to the higher prices. Last year, prices stood at Rp 150,000 per kilogram, seen as more affordable and drawing more customers. He typically sells around 150 kilograms daily, but numbers are down this time. Supply remains secure from Rumah Potong Hewan (RPH) Cakung, managed by Perumda Dharma Jaya under the DKI Jakarta provincial government. Adi expects a surge in buyers on H-2 to H-1, though not as busy as in previous years. > “Compared to last year, buyers are slightly down. Maybe because prices are quite high now,” he explained.
