A man was detained on Saturday for his alleged role in a homicide that occurred in December 2025 in La Florida. The court ordered preventive detention on Sunday after charging him with several weapons-related offenses.
The events took place in the early hours of December 19, 2025, at a nightclub on Avenida Walker Martínez. According to the records, the suspect and the victim, both Chilean, argued. The attacker left and returned with a .40 caliber pistol, fired into the air, and then shot the victim in the body from less than two meters away. The victim died at Hospital de La Florida.
Carabineros from the OS-9 and Labocar departments identified the suspect through witnesses, photographic identifications, and surveillance cameras. He was detained on June 27 before getting into a vehicle allegedly used in the crime. At his home, 39 rounds of 5.56 caliber ammunition, prohibited in Chile, were found.
The 14th Guarantee Court of Santiago ordered preventive detention on June 28. Prosecutor Fernando Zeballos charged simple homicide, unjustified shooting in public, illegal carrying of a firearm, and violation of the Arms Control Law. The court set 100 days for the investigation.
