Deputy Registrar Announces Dissolution of 94 Companies

The government has started the process of removing 94 companies from the register, putting thousands of jobs at risk across Kenya.

In a notice dated July 3, Deputy Registrar of Companies Hiram Gachugi said the 94 companies would be struck off the register after three months. The notice invites creditors and other interested parties to show cause why the companies should not be removed.

The targeted firms operate in sectors including information technology, engineering, healthcare, education, transport and manufacturing. Gachugi did not state explicit reasons for the planned dissolutions.

The three-month period is intended to protect creditors, shareholders and employees. Anyone with evidence that a company remains operational may submit reasons before the deadline.
