In a meeting held on Wednesday in Cairo, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi expressed support for political solutions in Yemen and Sudan. They reaffirmed their commitment to the Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue underway in Riyadh, aimed at achieving a consensual settlement on the southern Yemen issue and a comprehensive political solution that preserves the country's sovereignty and unity.
Regarding Sudan, they emphasized the importance of supporting national institutions and halting all military escalations, calling for the protection of civilians and facilitating humanitarian aid through United Nations agencies and civil society organizations. They endorsed a political solution that ensures Sudanese sovereignty.
On the Palestinian issue, the ministers renewed their support for the Palestinian people's right to an independent state based on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. They demanded an end to the blockade on the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Jerusalem to allow the entry of relief materials and services, paving the way for the return of normal life.
The discussions also addressed bilateral cooperation, with the ministers reviewing current work programs and exploring new economic and investment partnerships. They noted alignment in their political visions for maintaining regional security through adherence to international law and peaceful conflict resolution. Both expressed commitment to ongoing coordination and consultation, highlighting that the historical ties between Egypt and Oman form a foundation for regional stability in line with their leaderships' directives.
