Governor Pramono proposes extending Jakarta LRT to Soekarno-Hatta Airport

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has opened the possibility of extending the LRT line to Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The move aims to improve public transport connectivity in the city's northern areas.

Pramono conveyed the plan while inaugurating a temple area in Pantai Indah Kapuk 2, North Jakarta, on Sunday (17/5/2026). He stressed that the current priority is completing the Velodrome-Manggarai LRT Phase 1B project targeted to operate in August 2026.

The line will reach 12.2 kilometers with 11 stations and an investment value of Rp11.5 trillion. The Jakarta provincial government has obtained permission from the Ministry of Transportation to extend the route from Kelapa Gading to Ancol.

Pramono also mentioned possible further expansion through Tanjung Priok, Jakarta International Stadium, to PIK 2 before connecting to the airport. Mass public transport connectivity in Jakarta currently stands at only 93 percent.
